The Drawbridge

A friend sent me a copy of The Drawbridge several months ago and I was impressed that the London-based broadsheet not only comes in full-color, but allots considerable space for artwork in a design-conscious layout.

The art department, run by Paul Davis on drawings, Millie Simpson on photography, and Stephen Coates in design, selects some of the best contemporary art, illustration, and photography.

I figured I’d mention the literary publication here since the current Action issue features an eye-catching cover by photographer Ori Gersht. For the Blow Up series, he froze exploding floral arrangements with stroboscopic photography.

Other photographers in this issue include Joel Meyerowitz, Jeff Wall, Trine Sondergaard, and Nicolai Howalt. The illustrated author portraits they always run by Dan Williams also add a personal touch.
