Ed Ruscha’s Fifty Years of Painting

Ed Ruscha has a beautiful book commemorating Fifty Years of Painting out through D.A.P. It was published back in February to celebrate the exhibition by the same name, which recently travelled to Moderna Museet in Stockholm. He’s more a painter of signs than a sign painter and I admire his use of iconic messages and typography.

Other titles worth checking out include a compilation of contemporary photography, Words Without Pictures released by Aperture, Soy Cuba, which chronicles post-revolution film poster design and Yves Klein: With the Void, Full Powers simply for the trademark blue on the cover. It seems there’s never room on the coffee table for coffee.
